170 Billion Dollars for ICE
Spending that amount of money in one year is itself problematic . . .
Thing is, spending that amount of money - 170 billion dollars - itself becomes problematic. The Trump administration will try to spend that money on ICE before the mid-term elections, and before the Dems regain both houses and block it - in 17 months’ time.
That’s 10 billion dollars per month.
It’s an impossible task, and the effort will choke on the mandate to spend that money as fast as possible.
Let’s look at just hiring 10,000 additional ICE personnel. They will need to hire over 1,000 people per month, if they are to be equipped and trained before the mid-term elections. This will require most of the existing trained and experienced ICE officers to come off active duty - rounding up any non-whites that they come across - to train the new recruits. This will leave much of the existing ICE units with inexperienced leadership, ever more fearful of increasingly large and angry crowds of protesters. This will inevitably lead to overreaction by inexperienced and frightened ICE operatives lacking effective leadership. Escalation of violence is inevitable, which will spiral out of control. Just before the mid-terms.
Recruitment will itself become a problem. The ICE brand is becoming ever more toxic, and they will have to resort to hiring the dregs of the streets. Or prisons. Background checking will choke on the sudden increase in volume, and ultimately the only qualification for joining ICE will be the expressed desire to shoot non-whites. Because ICE authorities know that this is exactly where things are heading.
Equipping the new recruits will also be a problem. Arms and ammunition will not be a problem - this is America. But providing sufficient uniforms and protective equipment could be problematic. It could take up to a year for some manufacturers to ramp up production. Russia discovered this when Putin ordered a massive increase in recruitment - many new recruits were sent to the front without uniforms or equipment. Some were issued with plastic cycling helmets . . .
Oversight will be negligible - those who's normal duties include oversight and auditing will be tasked with sourcing materiel. Corruption will be rampant as the normal procurement processes will be ignored. Ghost supply companies will spring up like mushrooms overnight. It would not be at all surprising to find most of the Trump administration at the center of the corruption.
And so, the only question remains is that when increasingly angry protests turn into massacres by poorly disciplined, ill-equipped and frightened ICE units, and Trump inevitably declares martial law, will the US Army take upon itself the initiative to protect the people from ICE?
